Admissions Criteria

The maximum published admission number (PAN) for FS2 (Reception) in this school is 90 – this also applies to the other year groups. Copies of the Admissions Handbook are available from the office or the School Admissions Team, Derby City Council.

Ravensdale Infant and Nursery School operates a one-point entry system for FS2 (Reception) children, all children will be offered a full time place from September.

How do I apply for a school place at Ravensdale Infant and Nursery School

School Admissions, Derby City Council is responsible for co-ordinating all applications from parents for school places in our catchment area.

If you want to apply for an Infant, Junior or Primary school place in Derby, you need to make an application directly to them.

Applying for a place at our school as a parent, you have a legal right to express a preference for a school that you want your child to attend. If your preferred school has a place, then a place should be offered to your child.

Applying for an Infant or Primary School Place for September 2016

If you want to apply for the intake year of an Infant, Junior or Primary school starting in September 2016, you can make your application from 06 November 2015, to make an application you can:

  • apply online – it’s quick and easy and lets you track the progress of your application
  • Apply by phone on 01332 642730 – this can up to approximately 5 minutes and you will need to know the name of the school you are applying to
  • Apply using a paper form – telephone 01332 642730 to request a form to be sent to you

If you make your application online, you will be able to access your decision on 18 April 2016 – National Offer Day. If you apply by phone or on a paper form your offer letter will be posted on 18 April 2016, second class. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Making an In-Year Application

If you want to make an application for a school in Derby City Council’s area, you need to complete a Primary School In-Year Admission Form. These forms are available from Derby City Council’s, School Admissions Team. 

Alternatively, you can complete the eform – it’s quick and easy. If you want to apply using a paper form, you can telephone 01332 642729 to ask them to send you one.

Transfer to Junior School

Most children from the Infant School transfer to Ravensdale Junior School which is on the same site. However, applications need to be made to the City Council.

The children visit the school and meet the staff during the term before transfer.

Appeals

When parents are unable to obtain a place for their child at the school they want, they can appeal against the decision to an independent appeals committee.
